Pigma Scalp Solutions
is Here to Help
Hair loss, hair thinning and balding is a major confidence killer. Many spend costly amounts to maintain or bring back nominal hair growth. More often that not, clients who have been promised lasting effects with the continuous use of pills and injections feel hopeless and disappointed when they lose progress once treatments stop.

Thankfully, scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a game changing non-surgical treatment that offers instant results with longevity and minimal maintenance. Unlike other hair solutions, SMP is a cosmetic detailing technique used to imitate hair follicles by depositing countless pigment dots into the scalp.
The solution is simple without the risk of trials and harmful side effects. You will be walking out of the clinic looking years younger and with the confidence you once lost, even after the first session! Clients often leave feeling as though they have gotten a new lease on life.

The SMP Process

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is similar to a tattooing procedure. Where it differs is in depth, needle size and pigmentation.
SMP uses a smaller sized needle that penetrates only the upper dermal layer of skin on the scalp. This makes it much less painful than a traditional tattoo, at most causing agitation of some degree rather than actual pain. Needle sizes differ slightly in order to best match the client's natural hair follicles.

SMP uses a specialized pigment that is designed to imitate the colour of natural hair that can be diluted to suit lighter or darker hair tones. It contains no additional colorants or additives and will only lighten, but not discolor over time.

Your SMP technician will use a fine micro-needling technique to deposit countless pigment dots into the scalp, this will replicate individual shaven hair follicles. SMP can be used to fill in bald spots, create a new hair line or to fill an entire head for a natural buzz-cut look.

SMP usually requires 2, sometimes 3 sessions depending on the desired outcome. Sessions can range from 2-5 hours depending on the area covered. It is recommended that 2-3 weeks should be taken in between procedures to give the area time to fully heal and settle. With each procedure the colour will darken and more density will be added until the client is happy with their results. SMP will last 5-7 years with proper care and sun protection.

FAQ
How much does SMP (Scalp Micropigmentation) cost?
Pricing is based on the level of hair loss, which is different for each client. Typically, the price ranges between $400 - $1200 per session. We recommend setting up a free consultation or send us an email with a photo of your scalp in order evaluate your case and provide a personalised quote based on your needs.

How many treatments should I expect?
Most clients can expect between 2-3 sessions to complete their treatment depending on the desired outcome. Treatments are usually spaced about 2-3 weeks apart.

How long does each SMP session take?
Each SMP session typically takes 2-4 hours depending on the treatment.

How long do the results last?
After completion of your full treatment (2-3 sessions) you can expect the strength of the color to last for 5-7 years. Around this time you may begin to notice gradual lightening (not discolor) of the treatment. When this occurs you can undergo a 'touch up' session to restore any fading.

Is scalp micropigmentation detectable?
Scalp micropigmentation has become such an effective hair loss solution because of its consistently natural and undetectable results.

Do I need to take time off work?
Scalp micropigmentation is non-invasive and requires no down time. After treatment it is common to notice slight redness on the scalp for 2-3 days post session. This redness subsides quickly and most clients return to work either right away or within a couple days. Clients are also allowed to wear hats or headwear should they feel the need.
How do I choose a hairline?
If you are unsure of what style or type of hairline will work for you, your SMP specialist will be there to help. With artistic experience on how to fit a hairline to head shape and age, your specialist can help recommend what's best. Over the course of your treatments you can also tweak and adjust the hairline for a perfect result.
Will it change color like tattoos?
No, unlike tattoo ink SMP pigment is designed to only lighten and not discolor overtime.

If I have hair, can I leave it long?
Depending on the pattern and extent of the thinning hair, some clients are able to maintain a longer length of hair. Scalp pigmentation can help thicken areas so that less of the scalp is seen showing through.
Can SMP match my skin and hair tone?
Yes! We are able to match the shade of our pigment to a wide range of skin and hair tones to match all natural hair colours and tones.

How long until I can exercise or sweat after SMP treatment?
We recommend no heavy sweating or intense exercise for 4-5 days after your scalp micropigmentation treatment.

Does the SMP procedure hurt?
For most clients, the pain minimal and it's consistently less painful than traditional tattoos. After your session, you won't experience any further discomfort.

How long until I can scrub, shampoo, or shave the SMP treated area?
We recommend no scrubbing, shampooing, or shaving over the treated area for 5-7 days after your scalp micropigmentation treatment.

Can I wear a hat after my SMP treatment?
Yes, you can wear a hat or a skullcap after your scalp micropigmentation treatment is complete. However, we hope you won't be needing to wear them as much!

Can I go in the pool, sauna, or steam room after SMP treatment?
We recommend you try to avoid chlorinated pools, saunas, steam rooms, and tanning beds for 28 days post final SMP session.
